They have wide sandy beaches, piers with jetties and are connected by a promenade that leads to Swinemünde in Poland. The villages offer bicycle, boat and beach chair hire, tennis courts and a network of well-signposted hiking trails. A modern water park, the Ostseetherme, is centrally located between Heringsdorf and Ahlbeck. The border crossing to Poland can be reached from Ahlbeck in just a few minutes.
